Paradox Publishes Hearts of Iron and Majesty News

From the Paradox Interactive web site comes the following news:

NEW YORK–December 4, 2008– Paradox Interactive today announced
that the company is developing mobile versions of the well known franchises
Hearts of Iron and Majesty. The games will be fully playable across all mobile
platforms, including the iPhone. This marks the first time Paradox Interactive
has developed games for the mobile platform.

NEW YORK – December 4, 2008 – Paradox Interactive today
released new screens and new information regarding their upcoming PC title,
Hearts of Iron 3, via Johan Andersson’s latest developer diary entry.

Mr. Andersson, Lead Developer on Hearts of Iron 3, writes about
the naval combat, map design, orders & espionage.

Johan states, “Most of these concepts are very familiar to
those of you who played the previous incarnations of Hearts of Iron so you are
probably wondering what we did add? As we mentioned in the presentation in
Leipzig, we have added a command structure. Divisions now fit into a multilevel
command structure. From Theatre, Army Group, Army, Corps through to Division.
Each level has its own commander that gives its own bonus according to his skill
level. At division level you get a bonus to combat while a corps commander
increases the chances of reserves joining combat. Our goal is to leave you
wanting good commanders at each level thus leaving you to think about should you
promote that Major General to a Lieutenant General and give him command of a
corps? At every position in the command structure, you can insert a leader of
the designated rank.”

Paradox Releases Elven Legacy Screenshots

From Paradox Interactive comes the following press release:

NEW YORK- November 6th, 2008Paradox Interactive has today
released new screenshots
for their eagerly anticipated Turn Based Strategy
fantasy title Elven Legacy, an epic game that pits elf against human.

In Elven Legacy the story is told about a rogue human that has discovered the
treasured secrets of the Elven race and for the first time in centuries, elves
are forced to enter the world of man in order to protect this information.

Elven Legacy is a turn-based strategy game that offers separate human and elf
campaigns. Each has its own unique storyline and missions for players to
explore, and these choices directly influence the game’s multiple endings.

The battle system in Elven Legacy features five distinct, commanding heroes
and over one hundred military units. Multiplayer combat takes place across more
than 16 scenarios and players can choose between five factions to swear their
allegiance to. Customization is a prevalent feature in Elven Legacy, as players
can take advantage of the advanced editor that is built into the game.

“We wanted the rich storyline of Elven Legacy to be enhanced by the
choices that players can make,”
said Max Bodrikov, main programmer of
Ino-Co, Elven Legacy’s development studio.  “Whether elf or human, players
can form alliances and use tactics that can alter the course of the game.”

Elven Legacy will be released in Q1 of 2009 and will be available in stores
and online through GamersGate.

Dark
Horizon
is a science-fiction themed game in which “disaster

storyline about the fight for survival.”  The game allows for
detailed spaceship customization, including the ability to disassemble
unused parts of a ship.  There are 22 missions and “extensive
customization opportunities.”  It’s currently listed at $29.99

adventurers and mercenaries that flock to shed their blood on its soil.
With unerring courage and a strong sword, an unknown stranger can make
a name as a warrior and wield the power to depose kings and crown new
ones at a whim.”  This is a “free-form sandbox” style game

expansive array of weapons, an advanced sword-fighting system, and an
AI that’s said to be challenging both in combat and in the strategic
realm.  It’s currently listed at $29.99 US or 29.99 Euros.
