- Paradox Interactive posted some details on its upcoming free-to-play Salem MMORPG. Salem sounds like it has an interesting economic mechanism and a "permanent death" feature.
- Sega has announced a pre-order incentive for their Xbox 360 game Rise of Nightmares. Players who pre-order the game will receive an exclusive Mini-Zombie that will interact with the player’s Avatar on the Xbox 360 dashboard.
- Shrapnel Games has announced plans to release Bronze as a "cardboard game".
- Square Enix has released Drawin’ Growin’ for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. It’s a casual game that involves a quest to return an island kingdom’s neglected flora back to its former glory.
- Take 2 Games announced NBA 2K12.

Frozen Synapse–Buy One, Give One Free to a Friend
Matrix Games recently released Frozen Synapse, a PC strategy game that brings the simultaneous turn-based strategy game up to date and lets you give detailed, accurate orders to your squad. Plan moves, test them out, and hit the "Execute” button. Both your turns and your enemy’s are executed simultaneously.
Each match is an intense tactical situation, with no “waiting around for the fun part”. If you can predict your opponent’s moves, you win the match. The game design rewards the superior tactics.
As of this writing, Matrix says that “as a special bonus, anyone who buys Frozen Synapse and registers an account on the multiplayer server will be given the opportunity to send a full copy of the game to a friend for free”.

HISTORY Great Battles Medieval for Android
Slitherine, Matrix Games, and War Drum Studios have announced the release of HISTORY™ Great Battles Medieval for the Android operating system (all Tegra2 compatible devices). This is the game that PocketGamer.co.uk referred to as “an impressively fully-functioned RTS”. NVidia has even used the game to showcase what their chipset can do.
The game is available through the Android market and is priced at $6.99 as of this writing.

- Capcom released a preview of the Resident Evil: Mercenaries 3D game at Captivate 2011
- The Guild Wars 2 site has updated its charr web page with new wallpapers, expanded lore, and a video about the domain of the charr.
- Matrix Games has posted new screenshots and information for Panzer Command: Ostront and announced that History Egypt Engineering and Empire are "smash hits" on the iPad.
- Paradox Interactive has launched a video developer diary for the upcoming Sengoku character-driven strategy game.
- SEGA announced that Mario and Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games title will be released for the Nintendo 3DS.
- Square Enix announced the release of Final Fantasy III on the iPad, a patch for the WAKFU closed beta, new volumes in the Manga Store, an expected release date for Moon River on XBox Live Arcade, and the availability of Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection for the PSP.
- Wargaming.net has entered into a partnership with Russian videogame developer Lesta.
Armada 2526 from Ntronium
Matrix Games and Ntronium Games announced the availability of Armada 2526 Supernova this week.
Armada is a space-themed 4X game which offers LAN and play by email options. There are many star and planet types to discover, and more than 30 special features to make each system unique. There is a new trade system in the game and a variety of new technologies.
It’s available from Matrix Games in download form for $14.99 and boxed (with free download) for $24.99. It’s also available via Valve’s Steam client for $26.99 (sale price as of this writing).
Matrix Posts Screenshots for Advanced Tactics: Gold
Matrix Games has posted additional screenshots for Advanced Tactics: Gold, which is approaching release. The Gold edition gives players a more powerful game editor, an improved random game engine, new features and abilities, and more. It includes an updated manual and an improving wiki. Matrix Games Releases Egypt for iPad
The great folks at Matrix Games have released an iPad game entitled HISTORY Egypt: Engineering an Empire. The game allows players to build an empire from its foundations to the height of its power. Players manage all aspects of leadership for an Egyptian territory as it rises through economic growth to political power and expansion into other regions.
It’s available in Apple’s App Store and (as of this writing) is priced at a modest $4.99.
Matrix Games Now Offers “Conquest! Medieval Realms”
Matrix Games, Slitherine Strategies, and Illustrious Studios have announced that Conquest! Medieval Realms is now available for purchase from Matrix Games for only $19.99.
Conquest! is described as having “just the right mix of wargaming flare and brain teasing challenge” according to David Heath of Matrix Games. Matrix says the game combines the pure strategic play of Chess and the key principles of military strategy in a historical setting. The object is to conquer up to 7 opposing AI or human players by defeating their armies and capturing their lands.

Matrix Games “Victory at Sea” Sale
Matrix Games has announced a “Victory at Sea” sale to commemorate the launch of War in the Pacific: Admiral’s Edition. The sale will last for three months after the release of the title. Owners of War in the Pacific are entitled to a $20 discount on the Admiral’s Edition. The “Victory at Sea” sale offers the following discounts: War in the Pacific is $20 off the normal $69.99 price, Uncommon Valor is $10 off the normal $29.99 price, and War Plan Orange is $10 off the normal $44.99 price.
“WW2: Time of Wrath” Now Available for Purchase at Matrix Games
According to the press release posted on the Matrix Games web site, Matrix Games and Wastelands Interactive have announced the release of WW2: Time of Wrath. This release is a sequel to the WW2: Road to Victory game, and comes with turn-based, grand strategy gameplay, including the ability to play any of the minor countries as well as fully modeled land/air/naval combat, research, production, and logistics. A free upgrade is available for Road to Victory owners.
The game features four Grand Campaigns (1939, 1940, 1941, and 1944), covering the full war in Europe. It is said to have a simple and intuitive user interface with “engrossing historical gameplay”. It models hundreds of historical events, such as the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, Vienna Dictate, Lend-Lease, and more. The naval system includes aircraft carriers, battle, patrol, and submarine groups.
The game requires Windows XP or Vista, a Pentium 1.2 GHz CPU or AMD 2000+, 512 MB RAM, a DirectX 9 compatible video card with 64MB or more of RAM, a CD-ROM drive (for the boxed version), 300MB of free disk space, and a DirectX 9 compatible sound card.
United States pricing, according to the Matrix Games web store, is $29.99 for a digital download of the game or $39.99 for a physical box shipment. Matrix Releases Crown of Glory: Emperor’s Edition
On Friday, Matrix Games announced the release of Crown of Glory: Emperor’s Edition, in cooperation with Western Civilization Software. This game is a sequel to the critically-acclaimed Crown of Glory wargame. Crown of Glory: Emperor’s Edition, a Napoleon era wargame, is described as “a major step up from the original” with new detailed naval combat, a streamlined economic system, a stronger AI, a new strategic map, new scenarios, and interface improvements. Matrix has posted three of the game’s tutorial videos on their site, to give gamers a better idea of the depth of gameplay. The initial release of the game is download-only, with options for boxed copies with printed manual to be available next week. Commander – Napoleon at War is the newest game in the Commander series, taking the acclaime design introduced in Commander – Europe at War to the next level.

In Commander – Napoleon at War, players must use the combined arms of infantry, cavalry and artillery combined with the innovations and strategies of the Napoleonic wars to secure victory. Play on a beautifully rendered map of Napoleonic Europe, where terrain and weather play a large role and mud and snow may bog down your army at a crucial time. Logistics are also modeled, with supply lines, resources and sieges and the use of privateers and naval superiority to stifle trade routes. Players have twelve unit types to choose from as well as fifteen research paths, and eight immersive historical campaigns from 1805 through 1815!

- 8 immersive campaigns (including a full 1805-1815 campaign) starting from Napoleon’s war with Austria, Russia and Britan in 1805 up to the 100 days campaign ending at Waterloo in 1815.

Matrix Releases “Great Invasions” Dark Ages Wargame
The good folks over at Matrix Games recently released “Great Invasions” for Windows PCs. In Great Invasions, you take command of several of almost 80 playable nations throughout 700 years of human history starting in 350 A.D. In order to succeed, you’ll need to master diplomacy, war, economics, and administration.
The game requires Microsoft Windows 98, ME, 2000, or XP, an Intel Pentium III 800 MHz or better CPU, 256MB of RAM, a 64MB video card, a DirectX compatible sound card, 8x optical drive, mouse, keyboard, DirectX 8.1, and about 800MB of free disk space. By today’s standards, that should be pretty much any PC you have on hand unless it’s several years old.
It’s considered a game of intermediate complexity, with a theater that covers Europe, the Middle East, and Northern Africa. A player may control up to 10 nations, and online play can support 1 to 4 players.
