October 17, 2007 (Mayesville, SC) – On July 30th, Empty Room Studios, provider of high quality illustration and writing services for the creative needs of both large and small publishing companies, teamed up with Platinum Studios to launch Cowboys and Aliens: Worlds at War. The web comic is a sequel to the original Platinum creation, and features the work of Empty Room Studios founder Rick Hershey, colorist Daniel Harris, letterer Gene Kelly, and script writer Alana Abbott. Jeremy Mohler, Art Director for Empty Room Studios, serves as the editorial director for the project. The web comic updates six days a week, including concept art and bonus materials. In a publicity drive beginning October 1st, Empty Room Studios will launch a contest for readers to “become” a character in one of the upcoming storylines.

“I think that one of the best things about web comics is the ever faithful and dedicated community that grows up around an ongoing comic,” said Mohler. “This is a perfect opportunity to really interact with the readers.” Abbott commented, “It’s a perfect time for us to introduce some new characters. We’re just about to venture into new territory, moving away from the original comic. The cast is going to be larger, and it will be great to feature one of our regular readers in an upcoming story.” The contest winner’s likeness and name will be used on a featured character in the comic’s second chapter.

The October publicity drive also includes interviews with the staff, including an appearance by Abbott on Secret Identity Podcast and an interview with Rick Hershey on Jazma.com. Cowboys and Aliens: Worlds at War is found at http://www.drunkduck.com/Worlds_at_War_Prelude.

Win an iPod Nano from Adamant Entertainment

The following article was imported from our old content management system on 08/10/2008. It may contain missing links and missing images which we do not plan to go back and correct. We apologize for any inconvenience.

From the Adamant Entertainment web site comes the following item:

On November 7th, Adamant Entertainment will reach our 4th anniversary.

Started as a design house producing material for other publishers, Adamant launched as a stand-alone publisher with the release of our first product ( Buccaneers & Bokor, Issue 1) in 2003. Since then, we’ve grown to a catalog of more than 150 products, and a loyal base of dedicated gamers, for whom we are extremely thankful.

Given that the month of November also features the American holiday of Thanksgiving, we’ve decided that it would be appropriate for us to show that Thanks, and perhaps make a small difference in the world as well.

For the entire month of November, anyone who purchases more than $10 worth of Adamant Entertainment product will be entered into a drawing for a new iPod Nano (RED) — the proceeds from which are given to the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa.

More than 5,800 people die every day from AIDS in Africa, and almost 2,000 children are infected with HIV each day. The Global Fund’s (PRODUCT) RED initiative directs up to 50 percent of gross profits toward African AIDS programs focusing on the health of women and children. Since its introduction, (PRODUCT) RED has delivered over $45 million to the Global Fund. For more information, visit their website at JoinRed.com.

If you wish to participate in the drawing, email a copy of your receipt(s) to: marketing@adamantentertainment.com . The drawing will be held on Saturday, December 1st, 2008. Multiple entries are accepted.

Watch for announcements of sales releated to the Anniversary & Thanksgiving Give-Away, which will be made throughout the month.

New RPG Releases from Precis Intermedia

The following article was imported from our old content management system on 08/10/2008. It may contain missing links and missing images which we do not plan to go back and correct. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Precis Intermedia Gaming has released two new products recently:

Coyote Trail: Mysteries of the Mountain
Rumors of treasure attract a number of folk to the area. They all want to get rich by searching the mountainside for a mysterious temple protected by mystical warriors. Can it be found? Does it even exist? This Coyote Trail supplement gives player gangs a chance to learn the ancient arts of the Orient. Are they pure enough to gain the ancient knowledge? Includes 27 new gimmicks, plus a series of short connected scenarios.

HardNova 2 RPG
DESIGNED FOR SPACE ACTION AND ADVENTURE WITHOUT BREAKING YOUR BUDGET!

Take to the stars and smuggle exotic goods across the galaxy, solve mysteries aboard space liners, or explore the frontier. HardNova 2 includes alien races, starships, exotic abilities, ready-to-play scenarios, reference sheets, and numerous character, robot, and starship templates.

HardNova 2 is a roleplaying game designed to be both easy to learn and fast-paced. The versatile genreDiversion i 2d6 rules make it perfect for one-shot games, extended play, or as a framework for your own ideas. Plus you can combine it with our Active Exploits Diceless System for diceless space opera. genreDiversion i games can also be combined to expand gaming options–mix and match custom rules and features from one game with another.

In short, HardNova 2 is fast, ready-to-use, and adaptable. You don’t have to learn a complicated system, refer to scores of tables, or spend all day creating characters. The basic rules require very little study, and the advanced rules are not much more difficult to pick up. You can either create custom characters for the game or dive right in with any of the included templates. The game is designed to be light; it has a small footprint and extremely low price tag – it’s not overloaded with tons of rules or an excess of information you just won’t need. It’s meant to get you running quickly so you can have a good time.

The setting is very open, taking place in our galaxy, where Earth formed an alliance (the United Sovereign Worlds, or USU) with several alien worlds as the result of a war with a hostile species. Two centuries later, that alien species is now a member of the alliance due to genetic and economic deficiencies (and some compassion from an Earth colony). They have assimilated well, but there is still discrimination. Even a synthetic race has joined the USU, allowing for some interesting gaming possibilities. The included scenarios immerse you into the setting so even if you don’t want to the run them, you’ve still got a lot of info to work with to flavor your setting or inspire ideas. And if you don’t want to use the setting, the rules are flexible enough to handle your own ideas or that of your favorite movie, television program, comic, or novel.

GameWyrd had this to say: “The genreDiversion [system] is simple but powerful – it’s one of my favourites… HardNova ][ is very playable. It's a good RPG at good value... If you're a fan of original and independent RPGs then you're likely to be a fan of HardNova ]["

A customer had this to say: "I haven't played or GMed a SF game for years, so it was really nice to pick up a fun, simple to use, and well-produced product like this and be able to run a game after reading it through a couple of times. The system is easy to use and works well. The setting background suits the theme and provides many obvious adventure hooks. I'd seriously consider running an extended campaign with HardNova ][."

Chaosium Licenses BRP System to Seraphim Guard

The following article was imported from our old content management system on 08/10/2008. It may contain missing links and missing images which we do not plan to go back and correct. We apologize for any inconvenience.

From the Chaosium web site comes the following news release:

DEADWORLD

Chaosium licenses it’s BRP system for 2008 Zombie RPG.

Now that we have signed contracts in place, it’s high time to post this.

DEADWORLD is the first BRP license we’ve awarded. There are more to come!

Dustin O’Chaosium

October 05, 2007

Chaosium Inc. awards Basic Roleplaying License to Seraphim Guard for the upcoming DEADWORLD roleplaying game.

This is the first BRP license Chaosium has given out for it’s upcoming BASIC ROLEPLAYING: THE CHAOSIUM D100 SYSTEM to release later this year.

The DEADWORLD RPG is based upon Gary Reed’s DEADWORLD comic, previously published by Caliber Comics and Image Comics, and soon to be released through Desperado Publishing. One of the forerunners of the zombie comic, DEADWORLD was an early work of artist Vincent Locke who went on to work on DC/Vertigo’s SANDMAN and A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE, recently made into a major motion picture.

Seraphim Guard plans to release the DEADWORLD RPG in fall 2008, at the Wizard World Chicago comic convention.

“We expect this to be a lot of fun” says Dustin Wright, of Chaosium Inc. “Zombies and Basic Roleplaying, what’s not to love?”

“I have been a fan of the BRP system since I picked up a CALL OF CTHULHU boxed set back in high school,” says Christopher Helton co-owner and Creative Director of Seraphim Guard. “I am excited and extremely enthused to be able to be designing something using the system that has given me so many hours (and years) of enjoyment.”

“Even though DEADWORLD has been licensed for apparel, CDs, masks, and other products, this is the one I find the most exciting,” says Gary Reed owner of DEADWORLD and many other former Caliber Comics Properties. “DEADWORLD fans have been clamoring for a role playing game for over a decade so I’m sure they’re just as excited as I am about it.”

Chaosium is a California based publishing company that has been releasing high quality games since 1975. http://www.chaosium.com

Gary Reed is the owner of DEADWORLD. For more information see his website. http://www.garyreed.net/Deadworld/home.htm
